2. Services

Tao Compass offers the following:

  • Ask Laozi — an AI-powered conversational experience inspired by the ancient philosopher Laozi and Taoist philosophy
  • The Oracle — an AI-powered I Ching divination experience inspired by ancient Chinese philosophy
  • Digital Products — downloadable content including PDFs, guides, ebooks, and audio meditations
  • Physical Products — tangible goods shipped internationally
  • Membership — a subscription plan granting access to all services and content on the platform

3. Ask Laozi — AI Disclaimer

Ask Laozi is powered by artificial intelligence and is designed for reflective and educational purposes only.

  • Laozi is not a licensed therapist, counselor, psychologist, or spiritual advisor
  • Responses generated by Ask Laozi do not constitute professional mental health, medical, legal, financial, or spiritual advice
  • You should not rely on Ask Laozi as a substitute for professional guidance
  • We are not liable for any decisions, actions, or outcomes resulting from your use of Ask Laozi
  • If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, please contact a qualified professional or emergency services in your region

4. The Oracle

The Oracle is an AI-powered I Ching divination experience inspired by ancient Chinese philosophy. It is designed for reflective, educational, and entertainment purposes only.

  • The Oracle is not a licensed advisor, counselor, or spiritual guide
  • Readings generated by The Oracle do not constitute professional advice of any kind, including but not limited to mental health, medical, legal, financial, or spiritual guidance
  • You should not rely on The Oracle as a substitute for professional guidance or decision-making
  • We are not liable for any decisions, actions, or outcomes resulting from your use of The Oracle
  • The Oracle is limited to one reading per user every 12 hours
  • Oracle readings are generated by artificial intelligence and may not always be accurate or appropriate

5. Membership

5.1 Subscription

Membership is billed on a recurring basis (monthly or annually) at the rate displayed at the time of purchase. By subscribing, you authorize us to charge your payment method on a recurring basis until you cancel.

5.2 What's Included

Membership includes access to Ask Laozi, The Oracle, the digital library, member-exclusive content, and any other features listed on the membership page at the time of your subscription. Features may be added, modified, or removed without notice. Significant changes that affect existing membership benefits will be announced with at least 7 days notice.

5.3 Fair Use

Membership is for individual personal use only. Account sharing is not permitted.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that demonstrate excessive or unusual usage of Ask Laozi that is inconsistent with normal personal use — including but not limited to automated requests, scripted interactions, or usage patterns that suggest abuse of the service.

We do not define a fixed usage threshold, as normal usage varies by member. Suspension decisions are made at our discretion and in good faith to protect the platform for all members.

5.4 Cancellation

You may cancel your membership at any time. Upon cancellation, your membership remains active until the end of the current billing period. You will not be charged after that date. No partial refunds are issued for unused time within a billing period.

5.5 Billing Errors

If you believe you have been charged in error, please contact us within 30 days at support@taocompass.com. We will investigate and issue a correction where applicable.

6. Digital Products

  • All digital products are delivered electronically upon purchase or as part of your membership
  • Digital products are for personal use only and may not be reproduced, redistributed, resold, or shared without our written permission
  • Due to the nature of digital content, all digital product purchases are final and non-refundable once accessed or downloaded
  • If you experience a technical issue preventing access to a purchased digital product, please contact us and we will resolve it

7. Physical Products

7.1 Shipping

We ship internationally. We are not responsible for delays caused by customs, weather, or third-party carriers.

7.2 Customs and Import Duties

International orders may be subject to customs fees, import duties, or taxes imposed by your country. These charges are the responsibility of the buyer. We are not able to predict or control these fees.

7.3 Replacement Policy

We do not accept returns. However, if your item arrives damaged or has a manufacturing defect, we will send a replacement at no additional cost. To request a replacement, contact us at support@taocompass.com within 14 days of receiving your order with photos of the issue. You keep the original item.

7.4 Lost or Undelivered Orders

If your order has not arrived within a reasonable timeframe, please contact us. We will investigate with the carrier and offer a replacement or resolution where appropriate.

8. Payments

All payments are processed securely by Stripe. We do not store your card details. By making a purchase, you agree to Stripe's terms of service. All prices are displayed in USD unless otherwise stated. Currency conversion fees, if any, are the responsibility of the buyer.

9. Intellectual Property

All content on Tao Compass — including text, images, audio, digital products, and the Ask Laozi experience — is the intellectual property of Tao Compass. You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from our content without written permission.

10. User Conduct

You agree not to:

  • Use the platform for any unlawful purpose
  • Attempt to reverse engineer, scrape, or exploit any part of the platform
  • Share your account with others
  • Use Ask Laozi to generate harmful, abusive, or illegal content
  • Harass, threaten, or harm other users or our team

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms without notice or refund.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Tao Compass and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of revenue, or emotional distress.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via email or a notice on the platform. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

14. Governing Law

These Terms of Service are governed by the laws of the United States of America. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the United States of America.
